Skinny Tricks for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Today

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Simple little tricks make such a big difference in my Easy Skinny Life, and I wanted to share some tiny ones that I did for each meal today.  First, take a few moments to make every meal memorable by adding a little something different to it, using real silverware, focusing on the food and really tasting it.  If you can’t remember the same old bowl of processed diet cereal inhaled on the run at breakfast, it certainly won’t feel like our incredible easy skinny lifestyle.  It feels exactly what it is — a deprivation diet — and your brain and body will crave more and more.   Here were my quick additions and skinny tricks to create memorable meals on this beautiful Sunday:

1.  Fresh herbs at breakfast.  Added to my omelet this morning, it turned a great tasting breakfast into a fragrant and extra flavorful experience.   For those who don’t buy fresh for fear it’ll wither away in the frig, just grab one bunch per week.  Cilantro is an easy start available at most stores and of course any farmer’s market.  Then, start to branch out and experiment by using it in as many different meals as you can, even if it seems unorthodox.  Fresh herbs make ALL meals memorable.  By the way, some of our readers even grow their own fresh herbs, so skinny hats off to all of you gardeners!

2.  Pump up the volume in tricky ways at lunch.   A generous amount of mushrooms tossed into lean ground meat before I cooked it created a HUGE burger at less than half the calories.  I swear my turkey burger today was the size of a 1 pounder, yet had the calories of a ¼ pound puny one.  On other days, an extra large handful of crunchy lettuce rolled up tightly with healthy ingredients in any whole grain wrap makes it almost too large to fit in my mouth.  Sounds silly and simple, but I promise it makes a difference.

3.  Hot spice it at dinner.  I have chicken planned on the menu for all of us tonight, so I grabbed some jalapenos to chop into the dish.  Believe me, I will eat less, yet still feel satisfied from such a spicy, hot and substantial meal!  Use pure fresh hot peppers or simple dried red pepper flakes.  Add it to several meals a week.  And of course you already know to skip the bottled hot sauce or marinades with additives, salt and sugar.

4.  Today’s other tiny skinny trick:  At the store, I bypassed all of the festive Halloween candy ON SALE despite my frugal nature.  With three weeks left until the holiday, don’t buy early just to save a few bucks.  “Savings” on junk food is never a true saving of anything.

Have a great rest of the weekend, everyone!  Share your own tricks today, too….
